Affiliate disclosure

Exactly which links pay us, which don't, and why it never changes our picks.

Keyward is reader-supported. Some of the outbound links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you click one and go on to buy a product or open an account, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This page explains exactly how that works and where those links are.

Only a specific, limited set of links are affiliate links. As of September 2026 they are: the hardware wallets LedgerTrezor; the software wallet SafePal, which runs a referral program; and the regulated exchange Coinbase, as a custodial alternative. Every affiliate link on the site routes through a '/go/' redirect and is marked so search engines do not follow it.

This is the part that matters most. The software wallets we recommend most often — MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Exodus, Phantom, Rabby and Coinbase Wallet — run no affiliate program that we participate in, so they pay us nothing. We recommend them purely because they are the right answer. On our main wallet guide you'll see a 'Pays us?' column making this explicit for every wallet.

How this affects our recommendations

It doesn't. A commission never buys a higher ranking or a softer review, and when the free, non-paying option is the safer choice, that is the choice we recommend. If we ever cannot separate our judgement from a payout, we drop the link rather than the standard.

FTC and honesty

In keeping with FTC guidance and simple honesty, affiliate relationships are disclosed here and inline next to the relevant links. If anything on this page is unclear, email [email protected] and we'll explain it.
